Tangaratta Vineyards Pty Ltd – purchased the property “Strathaven” specifically for the purpose of establishing a vineyard.
The house (Cellar Door) was built in 1923 by the Woods family who had 12 children – 7 boys and 5 girl Woods purchased the property from the Britton family who established Lillyman’s Soft Drinks in Tamworth.
George & Naomi Waller were the owners from 1969 to 1982, selling it to Les & Wendy Dowe, who sold it to Tangaratta in September 1998.
Tangaratta Vineyards Pty Ltd draws its name from the Tangaratta Creek, a tributary of the Peel River, adjacent to where the property is located. The limestone hills north of Tamworth, and the volcanic hills south of Tamworth, overlook the property. |
