The Vineyard
Tangaratta Vineyard purchased the property, 'Strathaven' specifically for the purpose of establishing a vineyard in 1998.
Tangaratta Vineyard draws its name from Tangaratta Creek, a tributary of the Peel River.
We have joined forces with four other New South Wales vineyards to form Penmara Wines. By sourcing only the best from its five vineyard members, Penmara consistently produces high quality wines that satisfy a large, international market.
History
The original cottage was built in 1923 by the Woods family who had 12 children – seven boys and five girls! They had a mixed farming business including poultry, sheep, pigs and a dairy farm.
The Woods family purchased the property from the Britton family who established Lillyman’s Soft Drinks in Tamworth. George and Naomi Waller were the owners of the property from 1969 to 1982, selling it to Les and Wendy Dowe, who sold it to Tangaratta in September, 1998.

The Vineyard is now utilised as a wedding and function venue. If you would like to enjoy your next occasion at Tangaratta Vineyard, please refer to our Weddings and Functions pages for more information or Contact us directly.
